The River Walk of Downtown Conway

the-river-walkNo trip to Conway would be complete without a stroll on the city’s River Walk.  The River Walk connects the historic downtown business district to the scenic Waccamaw River.  The trail begins under the Main Street bridge and ends at the beautiful riverfront park and marina complex.  Along your walk you see wonderful historic buildings, the Conway Arboretum, playground, marina,  riverside gazebo, and a few more things we’ll let you discover on your own.

L.W.Paul Historical Farm

l-w-paulTake a step back in time and experience life on a small farm in Horry County 100 years ago.  The
Horry County Museum has recreated a “one horse family farm” of the early 1900’s.   This working farm will allow you to watch as well as participate in the daily farm activities of times gone by.

See how it’s all done at the L. W. Paul Living History Farm.  Located at 2279 Harris Shortcut Road, Hwy. 701 N, Conway, SC.  Hours of operation are Tuesday through Saturday 9:00am till 4:00pm.  Any size groups are welcome; church, scout, childcare, youth, 4-H, tour bus, family reunions, Red Hat, etc…  Just call the Farm in advance to set up a tour for your group.

Guided River Kayak Tours

guided-riverFor some people the city’s river walk just isn’t close enough to the water.  If you are one of those people, I suggest that you give the folks at Conway Kayak Company a call. They offer professionally guided kayak tours of the scenic Waccamaw River. The tours are scheduled for 3 hours and cater to beginners and first time

Conway’s Live Oak Tour

conways-live-oak-300x225The City of Conway Visitor Program has developed a live oak tour for your enjoyment.  The 10 tree tour showcases some of the most interesting and historically significant oaks in downtown Conway.  While the brochure will focus primarily on a few specific locations the path you’ll take will display many more beautiful specimens.  Pick up a brochure for the tour from the Visitor Center at 903 3rd Ave.  For more info or to schedule a guided tour call  – (843) 248-1700.

“I want to say what a great place Conway is to visit as a tourist. No place in the Myrtle Beach area was as dedicated to visitors as Conway. I thoroughly enjoyed my day there, from the tourism booth giving me a free parking pass and information to walking the boardwalk and visiting the homes and live oaks with history. We had a great lunch at the Trestle. Thank you so much for going out of your way to get visitors to come visit and stay and enjoy!!!! My day at Conway was even more enjoyable than my days in Charleston which was the purpose of my trip. Thank you again. Good job!!”
